Decker’s Trains began in 1985, at the suggestion of Marc Horovitz, a fellow garden railroader. We had a Gauge 1 garden railway, and I wanted to run something different than LGB, so Marc suggested 15” gauge railways in 1:8 scale.
My background is in 15” gauge railways.I worked for the Sandley Light Railway Equipment Works in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.Norm Sandley had a great interest in Sir Arthur Heywood’s Victorian era Minimum Gauge railways.Because of our working relationship, I became interested too. I developed a line of Gauge 1 Heywood models. As we grow and change, the Gauge 1 railway is being replaced with the Erskine Tramway, a half-size Heywood line. Our Decker's Trains line has expanded to include Heywood railways in all sizes and European books and videos.
